Privacy Policy

DNS+ for iPhone

Effective Date: September 26, 2026

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how the DNS+ app (“DNS+”, “the app”, “we”, “us”) handles information. DNS+ is an independent iPhone app developed by Moataz AbdElkawy. DNS+ is designed to protect your privacy: it has no user account, no sign-in, and collects no personal data.

DNS+ configures your iPhone to use an encrypted DNS resolver through Apple’s NEDNSSettingsManager using DNS-over-HTTPS. The actual DNS requests are resolved by a third-party provider, AdGuard Public DNS. This policy distinguishes clearly between DNS+ (the app) and AdGuard Public DNS (the independent DNS resolver). DNS+ is not affiliated with AdGuard.

Information We Collect

DNS+ collects no personal data. Specifically, the app has:

A single lightweight preference (your chosen protection mode and app appearance/ language) is stored locally on your device only, and is never transmitted to us.

DNS Processing

When you enable protection, DNS+ creates one encrypted DNS configuration on your iPhone using Apple’s system DNS Settings. From then on, your device sends DNS lookups over DNS-over-HTTPS to the selected AdGuard Public DNS resolver. DNS+ does not intercept, inspect, proxy, store, or log this traffic. DNS+ is not a VPN and does not run a DNS server. The app cannot see the websites you visit.

DNS filtering has technical limitations and cannot block every advertisement or every item of adult content.

Third-Party Services

DNS queries are resolved by AdGuard Public DNS, an independent service operated by AdGuard. Any handling of DNS request data at the resolver is governed solely by AdGuard’s own privacy policy, not by DNS+. DNS+ does not control, own, or store AdGuard’s DNS infrastructure data.

Data Retention

Because DNS+ does not collect personal data, there is nothing for us to retain. Your local preference stays on your device until you delete the app or remove the DNS configuration. You can remove the DNS configuration at any time from within DNS+ (Settings → Remove DNS Configuration).

Children’s Privacy

DNS+ does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The Family protection mode can help filter adult-content domains and enable Safe Search where supported, but it is a technical aid and is not a substitute for parental supervision.

Security

DNS+ relies on Apple’s system DNS Settings and DNS-over-HTTPS, which encrypts DNS requests in transit between your device and the resolver. Because the app stores no personal data and operates no servers, there is no personal data at rest for us to secure.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
